STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Common Sauna Questions

Here are answers to common questions about owning a sauna.

How hot does the Nature Series get?
Up to 90°C (194°F). The 9 kW Homecraft heater warms a bed of stones, which gives you traditional sauna heat, unlike an infrared sauna. You can pour water over the hot stones to add steam. Visscher's user guide recommends 80 to 100°C for a traditional session, so the Nature Series is right in that range.
How long does it take to heat up?
Less than an hour. Turn on the heater with the digital control panel beside the door, and Visscher says the sauna is ready to use in under an hour.
Can you use a sauna through a New Brunswick winter?
Yes. The steel roof is made to handle snow, and a reflective vapor barrier between the wood layers holds in the heat. Visscher's user guide suggests 5 to 10 minutes per session for beginners, working up to 20 minutes, with a rest between sessions.
Can you see the Nature Series in person?
Yes. The Nature Series is on display at our showroom at 1715 Hanwell Road, just outside Fredericton, so you can see the cedar and the heater up close before you buy.
Who installs the sauna?
Our team does. We deliver the Nature Series and assemble it on a level base, and we can either coordinate the electrical hookup for the heater or leave it ready for your electrician to connect. Building codes vary from one municipality to the next, so Visscher recommends checking with yours before you buy. We're happy to share any specs your building office needs.
What warranty comes with the Nature Series?
The Nature Series comes with two warranties. Visscher's Limited 10-3-1 Warranty covers the original owner for one year on materials and workmanship, three years on the structural wood, and ten years on the metal roof panels. Those claims go through us, so keep your original receipt. The heater has its own 2-year manufacturer guarantee from Homecraft, the company that builds it in BC.
How do you take care of a cedar sauna?
It takes very little work. Keep the benches and walls clean and dry, and leave the door open after each session so the cedar can air out. If the Blacksmith exterior ever needs a touch-up, Visscher recommends mixing one part paint with two parts water and applying one coat without sanding.
